CONFERENCES

CREATIVE WRITING WORKSHOP FOR ENGLISH TEACHERS

The ATENEO CENTER FOR ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHING (ACELT) holds its 26th Bi-Annual Conference on Saturday, February 3, 2001 at the Escaler Hall, Ateneo de Manila University, Quezon City, Philippines.

The conference is entitled "WRITING CREATIVELY: THE ENGLISH TEACHER AS WRITER." It aims primarily to give English teachers a taste of the imaginative and creative processes that go into the writing of a poem, an essay, or a short story by putting them behind the writing student's desk. The conference will give the teachers a chance to meet, discuss literature and writing, and dabble in a little creative writing with local Philippine writers in English: Alfred 'Krip' Yuson, award-winning fiction writer, who will give the keynote address; and other accomplished and upcoming writers - Benilda Santos, D.M. Reyes, Rofel Brion, Lem de la Cruz, Susan Evangelista, Carolyn Pile, Cyan Abad, and Gad Lim - all from Ateneo de Manila University.

For more information, please contact Vicky Calderon at the ACELT Office, Rm. 202 Kostka Hall, Ateneo de Manila University, telephone/fax no. 4264322 and trunkline no. 4266001, ext. 5315, email vica@admu.edu.ph or acelt@admu.edu.ph.
